Brockworth Albion Under 12's 1 - Bristol City Juniors SC 0
Brockworth Albion have lifted the Under 12's Alec Buckland Cup after a 1-0 win over Bristol City Juniors
SC in the Gloucestershire FA County Cup Final. This is only the second time that a Gloucester team have taken the trophy in the Cup's
29 year history, the first time being 12 years ago in 94-95 when Windsor Drive were the victors.
Brockworth Albion had reached the final by beating Wickwar Wanderers 11-0, Henbury Colts 6-1, Mangotsfield
United 6-0, Rodborough 4-0 and in the semi-final Tredworth Tigers Under 11's 4-2.
At the start of the season 83 teams from Gloucestershire entered the County Cup and the final was played at Gloucestershire Football Association Headquarters in Almondsbury on Thursday evening, 12th
April 2007.
In the opening ten minutes Brockworth Albion made an impressive start creating two chances, the first when Callum Thomas passed a good through ball to Ben Simmonds who narrowly missed the goal.
The second opportunity arrived when Elliot King took a quick free kick to Josh Watts, who
in turn ran towards the goal and shot, but his effort was saved by the Bristol City goalkeeper.
The remainder of the first half saw Albion losing control of the game and City finding themselves with several opportunities to score.
However, with great defence from Alex Moulder and Josh Fivash, Albion did not allow City to put themselves on the
score sheet.
At half time Brockworth made a tactical change, bringing on Sam Organ to increase pressure on City's defence.
Brockworth were finding it very difficult to break down the Bristol team who were gaining more possession and looked likely to take the lead, had it not been for superb defensive work from Brockworth's Ollie Brown, Jack Rees and goalkeeper Jonty Fowler-Moore.
With time running out Nathan King continued to work hard and took advantage of any opportunities available and then with 7 minutes remaining Dean Lane threaded a ball through to Watts
who beating the Bristol defence with skill and pace, found himself on a one to one with the City goalkeeper.
Watts then skilfully lobbed the ball over the keepers head into the back of the net.
With Bristol finding themselves needing to attack more, Brockworth were able to find gaps in the defence
and had it not been for good goalkeeping from City, Albion would very nearly have scored again.
